The Winery

The KLADOS WINERY is a small family business, that was started in 1997.
The founder, Manolis Klados, with 30 years experience in the industry,pioneered wine making in the prefecture of Rethymno.
The first winery was set up in small rented premises, located in the outskirts of the city of Rethymno, with a production capacity of 20,000 Litres/year, that grew over time.
The early activity was mainly Bag-in-Box and the first serious consumer branding with bottled products started in 2002.

The business was relocated in 2007, in purpose built family owned premises in the area of Panormo, 25 km east of the city of Rethymno.
The new winery was equipped with modern technology, in both wine making and bottling, enabling the processing of greater volumes and higher standards of quality.
The winery is surrounded by our new organic vineyard, planted with the famous Rethymnian white grape variety of ''Vidiano'.

Merriman-Webster definiert „Boutique“ als „ein kleines Unternehmen, das hochspezialisierte  Produkte anbietet“. Während ein Boutique-Wein sicherlich hochspezialisiert ist, trifft diese Definition nicht ganz, wie wertvoll ein Boutique-Wein wirklich ist. Ja, ein Boutique-Wein ist in der Regel ein kleiner oder limitierter Wein. Und es steht außer Frage, dass Boutique-Weine von Handwerkern handgefertigt werden, die den Wunsch haben, in jeder Flasche ein Meisterwerk zu schaffen. Ein echter Boutique-Wein ist von Anfang bis Ende personalisiert. Von der Gründung eines Weinbergs, wenn die Wurzel- und Klonauswahl der Rebe speziell auf den Bodentyp und die Wasserverfügbarkeit abgestimmt ist, bis hin zur perfekt getimten Ernte und einem sorgfältigen Fassreifungsprogramm ist jeder Schritt bei der Herstellung eines Boutique-Weins von zielgerichtet und persönlich, von der Weinbergsbewirtschaftung bis zur Abfüllung
