The Winery

The KLADOS Winery is a family business company founded in 1997 on initiative of Emmanuel Klados who is a chemist-oenologist since 1979.
The first facilities it was a small place in the municipality of Rethymnon and had a production of about 20,000 lt of wine per year.
Production every year increased with constants rhythms and before 2000 the first ones started steps in bottling with the local variety Vidiano.
We are one of the first wineries that believed and tried to highlight this particular one and rare variety.

In 2007 the winery was moved to Skepasti/ Rethymno in a modern building of 700 square meters and its equipment was significantly strengthened with high-tech machinery in production and bottling.

In 2012 the winery won its energy efficiency with the installation photovoltaics, while since 2013 it is surrounded by a vineyard where it is grown, according to the biological standards of BIO, the local white Vidiano variety.

In 2014 the business passed to its new generation family.
Stelios, who grew up in winery and is a graduate of the department in Chemistry from the University of Crete with postgraduate degrees studies in Oenology both at her university Piacenza as well as the Agricultural University Athens.
Since 2015 the winery is now and visitable. New modernization was carried out from 2020 to 2022 in both equipment and and in the winery facilities.

Today, approximately 100,000 lt are produced per year.
The red Kotsifali varieties are vinified, Liatiko and
Cabernet Sauvignon as well as the white varieties Vidiano, Moschato Spinas and Sauvignon Blanc.
